Statement of Belief Noarlunga Centre Church of Christ
We believe:
- In one living and true God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit who is the creator of all people and things. (Mathew 3: 16-17, John 14: 9-10, Genesis 1:1, Acts 17: 24-28)
- That Jesus Christ is God’s only Son who died on the cross to bring forgiveness of sins to those who believe in the gospel when they repent from their sins; and that he rose from the dead three days later proclaiming victory over death. (John 3:16, Mathew 1: 18-21, Colossians 1: 12-23)
- That the Holy Spirit lives in all believers, equipping them with gifts of service and empowering them to witness for Christ. (John 16: 5-15, Romans 8: 1-14)
- That the Bible is the inspired word of God, the final authority for all matters of faith and a guide for the life of everyone. (Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:13, Timothy 3:16)
- That every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:7)
- That salvation (the forgiveness of sin) is offered to all people and comes only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (His death on the cross) and His resurrection from the dead. (Mathew 26:28, Romans 5: 8-11, Ephesians 2: 8-9, 1 Cor. 15: 1-4)
- In the practice of believer’s baptism by immersion as an expression of a person’s conversion and commitment to Jesus Christ. We also welcome into the life of the church those who have had membership with other denominations of the Christian Church. (John 20: 30-31, Acts 2:38, Romans 10:9, Romans 6:1-7)
- In the weekly observance of the Lord’s supper where all believers are invited to remember Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection. (Luke 22:14-20, 1 Cor. 11: 23-26)
- The church is the body of believers who have been born again of which Jesus Christ is the head, consisting of all Christians everywhere. (Mathew 16:13-18, Acts, 2:14-47 Colossians 1: 18, Ephesians 5:30)
- That death comes because of the fall of man. At death the spirit of man does not cease to exist or become unconscious. (Romans 8:10-11, Daniel 12:2, John 6:47, Genesis 1: 26 – 3:24, Genesis 2: 17)
- In the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. (Mathew 19: 4-6, Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2: 21-24, Ephesians 5: 22-27)
- That the devil is always opposed to God and has an evil intention for mankind. (Ephesians 6: 10-12, Ephesians 2:2)
- That the personal return of Jesus Christ is imminent. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Zechariah 14:4, Acts1:1, Titus 2:30, Revelation 1:7)
